Foundation Offers Expertise and Flexibility

The Greater Greenville Community Foundation offers you a great deal of flexibility in creating your fund while providing you with expertise in the areas that matter most.  Assets that you donate to the Foundation create one of several types of funds to support your charitable goals.  We also offer you a full menu of planned giving options to tailor your gifts.  You can create a fund in honor of someone you love or to celebrate a special event.  You can direct your gift broadly or narrowly to issues you care about or to wherever needs are greatest.

We use professionals to invest and manage our assets.  As the donor, you have the opportunity to recommend an Investment Manger to work with our Foundation in an allied agreement that fulfills the standards for endowment investing and provides fiscal oversight by the Foundation.  The Foundation uses a number of Investment Managers within our community including Wachovia, BB&T, Raymond James, Merrill Lynch, Wachovia Securities and Salem Investments.  The Greater Greenville Community Foundation also has several brokerage accounts to be used in expediting the gift process when stocks or securities are being gifted.  The Foundation currently charges a standard one percent management fee on invested funds.

For more information on how the community foundation can assist you or answer further questions regarding investment management on your fund, please contact Melissa Spain, CEO, at the Foundation office.

Ten Reasons People Choose to Give Through Community Foundations
  1. We are a local organization with deep roots in the community.
  2. Our professional staff has broad expertise regarding community
    issues and needs.
  3. We provide highly personalized service tailored to each
    individual’s charitable and financial interests.
  4. Our Donor Advised Funds help people invest in the causes
    they care most about.
  5. We accept a wide variety of assets, and can facilitate even
the most complex forms of giving.
  6. We partner with professional advisors to create highly
    Effective approaches to charitable giving.
  7. We offer maximum tax advantage under state and federal law.
  8. We multiply the impact of gift dollars by pooling them with
    other gifts and grants.
  9. We build endowment funds that benefit the community forever
    and help create personal legacies.
  10. We are a community leader, convening agencies and coordinating
    resources to create positive change.

Any fund you create with us can be established in your name, or in the name of your family, your organization, or anyone you wish to honor.  All grants distributed from your fund – today and in the future – are then awarded to charities in the name of your fund.  It’s a great way to always be involved with, and remembered for, your community investment.
